Orchard Joinery Staff Profiles
Geoff Orchard
Geoff ’s early interest in joinery came from his “fix it” Dad.
After completing building and then joinery training, he created Orchard Joinery in 1994. He has steadily grown the company with son David into a thriving and well respected business.
He has strong relationships with all clients and suppliers and often hand selects certain timbers. Most of all, he’ll really listen to what you want and do whatever it takes to deliver.
Geoff loves a challenge and is always creating new ways to realise ideas.
David Orchard
David loved visiting building sites with his Dad as a young lad.
A year spent working across different trades led him to discover a love for construction, particularly woodwork. He then completed his joinery apprenticeship with Orchard Joinery & Matakana Kitchens. David quickly became an integral part of the business, having inherited much of his father’s integrity and passion for joinery.
David spends some of his time creating computer generated designs and ensuring the smooth running of production.
Christine Orchard
Ex primary teacher Christine keeps the office organised.
She’s very proud of the way Orchard Joinery has grown: Seeing the company’s reputation soar has been great to witness, and working with husband Geoff and son Dave is a pleasure.
Ken Mansfield
Ken has been the foreman for nearly 20 years. He remembers David O coming as a kid and is still proud to be part of the Orchard Joinery family.
Ken’s own father was a carpenter and Ken left school to complete an apprenticeship.
He was the last apprentice to go through the traditional apprentice training scheme before it was changed.
Making sure things are humming along nicely, and making sure traditional joinery doesn’t become a lost art, keeps Ken out of trouble.
Brent Parsons
Brent enjoyed woodwork at school and learnt a few tricks from his D.I.Y. Dad.
From there he worked for a solid timber furniture manufacturer, and got his Trade Certificate in Cabinet making, followed by 16 years working in Joinery and cabinet making.
With a total of 22 years of experience including spray finishing, he is a vital member of the Orchard Joinery team.
He likes the wide range of household joinery that Orchard creates for customers and thinks making one off items is a key to Orchard’s success.
Brent says hearing comments about how well-made Orchard’s furniture is brings smiles all round.
Trevor Johnson
Trevor completed an apprenticeship in joinery , and passed his trade certificate in joinery . He has worked for more than 20 years in the trade, and is skilled in all aspects of joinery, Trevor is a real asset to the business.
He has known Geoff Orchard personally for a number of years and when Trevor shifted to Kapiti, it felt like coming home in more ways than one.
He knew he wanted to do joinery from a young age, and really enjoys working with the team at Orchard Joinery.
Each day brings new rewards.
